Change Is Here

Congrats to Barack Obama and to all his supporters, including myself.  I’ve always been a heavy follower of Politics especially during election time.  I also follow the local and state officials here.  But when it comes down to it, the President is the most important.

History has been made and even though it still hasn’t set in but we have an African American President.  I witness two historic events, even though one was tragic (9-11)  and Obama becoming president, both have changed our generation.

Before Obama was elected you could see the significance in change with the younger generation, which is the future of America.  Besides racial barriers being broken down, realization within the youth of America was broken down.  We started to realize the impact that we can make not just in America but also the rest of the world.  Some say this is a win for African Americans, No! this is a win for those who want change and it all started with an idea of one man.

The Fab 5

With the NBA season starting to kick in gear, this means that College Hoops is near.  I’m huge fan of College Sports, especially college hoops.  As I start to look at my pre-season ranked #8 Duke Blue Devils 08-09 roster, I’ve noticed a few notable freshmen which should help for a successful season.  The word “Freshmen” goes through my head and sets me back to to early 1991 when five fabulous freshmen were recruited for the University of Michigan.

The “Fab 5″ they called them, short for fabulous five freshmen.  They probably were the most prestigious recruiting class ever to grace the wood floors of college hoops.  Five things you’ll remember them most for are, baggy shorts, black socks & shoes, trash talk, arrogance, and the infamous “time-out.” Though all achievements have been taken away from that era, you can never take away what they did for college hoops.  They revolutionized college hoops as Michael Jordan did for the NBA.

Regardless what anyone says, love them or hate them, if it wasn’t for the Fab Five, High Schools around America wouldn’t be playing hip-hop music during warm-ups, wouldn’t be begging their athletic director to order baggy uniforms and they would be sporting nike black socks and shoes.  So why is that so important?  Because it gives your game style, if you look good you play good, well maybe not but it’s a lot better then seeing those daisy duke like shorts on players.

This is why I succeed…

At times we are so afraid of failure and what it may do to us.  It stops us from doing certain things in our life and it is one of the hardest things to over-come.  Always remember, without failure there is no triumph.

Somewhere I belong

“It didn’t make sense that I’d be there. I mean, these guys were hard-core hijackers, but there I was. I wasn’t scared, I knew I hadn’t done anything they could do me for. Besides, it was fun. I got to make like I was notorious.” Verbal Kint - The Usual Suspects

Visual Story - Intro

Here’s some stills from the motion piece “Visual Story.”  The short is an introduction to the concept and thought process, of the style and direction of where my work is headed.  Most of the photographs used in the piece are from photographer friend Charles Buenconsejo.

New Site - Preview

Here’s a little preview of the new version of my site.  I finally had some time to work on it.

“I see my fear everytime I open up my eyes
When you come around I will try to hypnotize
I talk in fear cause you caught me by surprise
I need to scream or I need to realize” - (Queen Paranoia - Slapshock)
